Morocco Confirm Stadiums, Fixtures As Nigeria Set to Battle Gabon In World Cup Playoff Showdown

The race for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is heating up as Morocco has officially confirmed the stadiums and fixtures for the African mini-qualification playoff tournament, set to take place from November 13 to 16, 2025, in Rabat.

The competition will feature four African heavyweights — Nigeria, Cameroon, DR Congo, and Gabon — representing Zone B in a high-stakes battle for a place in the intercontinental playoffs.

The winner will move one step closer to securing a coveted ticket to the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

According to the tournament organisers, all matches will be played at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat, with the final scheduled for November 16.

The match schedule will see Nigeria open their campaign against Gabon at 17:00, while Cameroon face DR Congo later that evening at 20:00. Winners of both matches will progress to the grand finale for a chance to represent Zone B in the global playoff round set for March 2026.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria, under head coach Eric Chelle, will be aiming to make a strong statement after sealing their spot in the playoffs. Their opponents, Gabon, come with a solid lineup featuring the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mario Lemina, making the tie one to watch for African football fans.

Chelle has already hinted at a “warrior mindset” heading into Rabat, saying his players “know what’s at stake” as they seek to bring Nigeria back to the World Cup stage.

With all eyes on Morocco, anticipation is building for what promises to be a thrilling four-day football spectacle on the road to 2026.
