The Nigerian defensive midfielder, who wore the armband on the night, described the result as a special moment for both the club and the players, marking Singida Black Stars’ first continental victory.
“Honoured to captain the team in our first win on the continent yesterday. And the Lord answered our prayers,” Chukwu said after the game, capturing the emotion surrounding the milestone achievement.
The decisive moment came in the 37th minute, when Kenyan forward Elvis Rupia capitalised on a defensive lapse from Otoho d’Oyo.
A failed clearance inside the box fell kindly to Rupia, who calmly slotted home from close range to give the Tanzanian side a deserved lead.
Singida Black Stars delivered a disciplined and organised performance, showing composure in defence and maturity in game management as they protected their advantage until the final whistle.
Chukwu led by example at the back, marshalling the defence and ensuring Otoho were kept at bay during key moments of pressure.
The victory not only boosts Singida Black Stars’ confidence in the competition but also strengthens their belief as they continue their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
With momentum now on their side, the Tanzanian outfit will be looking to build on this result and push for further progress on the continental stage.
