Monday Gift Keeps Mute On Super Falcons’ Omission

FC Robo Queens loanee striker Monday Gift was the center of attraction at the just concluded Tulcan Energy NWFL Premiership Super 6 in Benin, Edo state.

Gift who is on a short-term loan from FC Robo featured for the eventual winners of the Super 6 tournament, Bayelsa Queens netting nine goals in five games including a brace against Nasarawa Amazons in the finals to take her total tally of goals for the season to 12, hence clinching the league’s top scorer award.

Her blistering exploits in the finals and the tournament earned her the Player Of The Match accolade in the 2-1 victory against the Amazons and also the Player Of The Season Award.

“I can only thank God, the good work of the coaching and that of her teammates,” Gift told reporters when asked about her phenomenal campaign In Benin city.

“I will only say it’s grace and the good work of my coaches, my teammates, and all thanks to God.

I put in a lot of effort as well as the support of my teammates and fans have really helped me.”

She declined to comment about her omission from the provisional 32-woman squad invited to Super Falcons’ camp in preparation for the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations(WAFCON) billed to hold in Morocco this July, “I’m not going to talk about that,” Gift said.

On whether she will stay with Bayelsa Queens or return to her parent club, FC Robo, the 20-year-old said “I will leave that to the management to decide.”
