Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi celebrated his recall to the national team with a goal for OGC Nice as Nigerian exports continued to impress across Europe on Saturday.
Moffi, named in coach Eric Sekou Chelle’s 31-man provisional squad for next month’s crucial FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa, came off the bench in the 73rd minute and found the net just three minutes later to seal a 3-1 victory over Auxerre, featuring compatriot Gabriel Osho.

The 25-year-old’s timely strike could boost his chances of making the final 24-man list when Chelle trims down his squad ahead of the September 5 and 9 qualifiers.
It was a productive weekend for several Nigerian players across Europe’s top leagues.
Winger Moses Simon netted his first goal for Paris FC since joining from Nantes, though his strike was in vain as his side fell 5-2 to Olympique Marseille.
In the Germany Bundesliga, Forward Justin Njinmah was on target for Werder Bremen, scoring a second-half consolation in their 4-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.
In Czech Republic Fortuna Liga
Striker Rafiu Durosinmi continued his fine form with Viktoria Plzeň, opening the scoring in the 35th minute of a 2-1 win over Karviná. It was his second goal of the campaign.
Nigerian players also made their presence in England’s Lower Leagues
In the League One, Defender Udoka Godwin-Malife scored for Burton Albion in their 2-1 defeat to Stockport County, while Fred Onyedinma was also on target for Wycombe Wanderers, netting the opener in a 2-2 draw against Reading.
In the League Two, Habeeb Ogunneye, on loan from Manchester United, grabbed his first senior career goal for Newport County, though they slipped to a 2-1 loss.
Meanwhile, Idris Odutayo struck late to rescue a point for Bromley in their 2-2 draw with Notts County.
The weekend’s performances highlight the growing influence of Nigerian footballers across Europe, with Moffi’s decisive strike offering a timely reminder of his quality as the Super Eagles prepare for a crucial international window.
