MMA FIGHTERS STORM LAGOS FOR WSC 4

The eagerly anticipated Warrior Sports Championship WSC4 mixed martial arts MMA contest, this Sunday, promises to keep spectators spellbound.

WSC has carefully selected some of Africa’s finest gladiators to fire up the atmosphere inside the indoor sports hall of the national stadium Surulere Lagos.

Speaking at yesterday’s press briefing in Lagos, WSC presidentIkechukwu Nwobodo explained that Sunday’s event, which has been labelled #Naijafightnight, will feature a 10 fight extravaganza that will mark a huge improvement on the last championship, organised last April, in Lagos:

“We will continue to tap into the huge MMA talent pool in Nigeria and other parts of Africa in order to produce world champions that will act as role models in their communities.”

The much talked about lightweight title fight main event between challenger Franklin ‘Soldier Of Jesus’ Esoe of Cameroon and champion Baba ‘Zeus’ Nadjombe of Togo grabs all the headlines, owing to the athletic nature of both athletes.

Esoe’s wrestling background solidifies his ground and pound stance, while Nadjombe packs up some power punches because of his Muay Thai style of fighting.

The Camerounian has been devouring some local delicacies ever since he landed in the country some days back, at the same time, staying connected to some home support. Nadjombe is expected to jet in today( 29 August 2019) alongside compatriot Adam Zikpli who will face Erhahon Osarumwsen of Nigeria in the 66kg weight class.

In another intercontinental bout, Nigeria’s Samuel Ogedengbe will confront Mozou Ahizi Francois of Ivory Coast.

Some Nigerian contests have been lined up for fight fans. Gideon Dappa will test his might against Onyeka Kingsley in the 64KG while Cornelius Daniel squares up to Kingsley Uzor. In the 61KG weight class Nnaemeka Nwonye duels with Igwe Nani Chime.

Vice president Koffi Senan is of the opinion that WSC is well-positioned to provide the right platform for budding MMA contestants, especially women, in Africa to capitalize on and push their careers to lofty heights.

To this end, the ladies affair throws up hard-punching Rachael Idam from the Nigerian Army who knows any slip-ups might cost her dearly when she squares up to Policewoman, Juliet Chukwu.

Elsewhere another Police girl Pamilerin Akintayo and the civilian fighter Eniola Busari will size up each other inside the cage.

A day before the bouts, Saturday 31 August 2019, all the fighters will converge on OJEZ SWIMMING POOL SECTION of the Lagos national stadium for the weigh-in and some potentially heated face-offs.
