Super Falcons forward, Francisca Ordega, has broken her silence after being ruled out of action at the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco due to injury.
The experienced attacker, who featured in Nigeria’s opening group game against Algeria before sustaining the injury, took to her official social media page ahead of the final clash between Nigeria and host nation Morocco, to express her emotions and gratitude despite the setback.

“God’s plans are best. Injuries come when you least expect them,” Ordega wrote.
“For some days now, I’ve been nursing an injury that kept me out of the tournament. Nothing hurts more than sitting on the sidelines watching others do what you love to do most.”
A veteran of the tournament, Ordega was poised to help the Super Falcons clinch a record-extending 10th continental title, but will now cheer her teammates from the sidelines.
“But as a professional soccer player, I take every setback as a blessing. I will be back stronger and better,” she added. “In between, getting my 5th WAFCON tomorrow by His grace.”
The final match is scheduled to hold on Saturday night at the Stade Olympique in Rabat, with Nigeria aiming to win their title and Morocco chasing their first-ever WAFCON crown.
