All teachers and students of the school, as well as some staff, started gathering early in the day at the venue, Spice Arena, which soon became a beehive of activities up till 2pm.
It turned out to be a splash of colours in various sports kits that depicted the competing teams, which had mixtures of boys and girls from senior and junior classes lumped together for various events.
Many of them defied the venue’s distance from their school, as they excitedly walked in small groups from the nearby Bayota Bus Stop to the arena located within the Arida/Iyana Odo axis of Isheri-Idimu.
The school’s assistant social prefect, Adeola Afolayan served as a guide to many of the students who preferred taking a walk than boarding vehicles to the venue and then arranged them into various groups for the day’s activities.
“We had fun in various games,” Afolayan told Sports247, “especially in football for boys and girls as well as running. The teachers also had fun in their own activities.”

Although some of the students expressed misgivings with the absence of medals for top teams and some of the events that were promised did not hold, one of the teachers said it was due to unexpected circumstances, especially as it was their first time of organising the competition.
“The most important thing is that we took the children out to have fun in a different environment, and they were able to exercise themselves on an astro-turf pitch that is smooth and lush green,” the teacher acknowledged.
