Dar es Salaam – Acting head coach of the Tanzania national football team, Taifa Stars, Miguel Gamondi, has announced a 22-man squad ahead of their international friendly match against Qatar, scheduled to be played in Egypt on November 14.
The Argentine tactician, who was recently appointed to lead the national side, has recalled several familiar names — including talented youngster Kelvin John, who plies his trade with Belgian club Genk. John returns to the national fold after being left out for several months under former coach Hemed Morocco.

The upcoming encounter will mark Gamondi’s first test in charge of the Taifa Stars as he begins shaping the team’s identity and tactical direction.
“This match will help us assess our players’ fitness levels and understanding of our new playing philosophy,” Gamondi said. “It’s important to start building cohesion and confidence as we prepare for major competitions ahead.”
The friendly will also serve as part of the team’s preparation for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Morocco, where Tanzania will compete under Gamondi’s leadership.
The Argentine coach, who previously guided Young Africans (Yanga) to league and continental success, is expected to bring his trademark discipline and high-tempo playing style to the national team.
