Bayern Munich of Germany winger, Michael Akpovie Olise has been ascribed with a new tag, ‘King of Assists,’ following his magical display for France in Tuesday night’s 3-0 spanking of Sweden at the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
Sports247 reports that, although the Nigerian-born former Crystal Palace of England dazzler could not score on the night, he provided a deft pass that helped Les Bleus’ captain, Kylian Mbappe equal Argentina’s Lionel Messi on six goals at this year’s Mundial.

Aside the pass to Mbappe, another beneficiary was Bradley Barcola, who ran onto a cute Olise delivery and rifled the ball in at the near post, helping the Nigerian-born ace move to five assists in four games at the World Cup.
Record keepers soon rolled out figures which showed that Olsie now has 32 assists overall so far this year for club and country, which should provide some comfort for the lad who was twice denied by Sweden’s goalkeeper, Widell Zetterstrom.
Olise ended up winning the game’s best player award, following a superb show that saw him come close to scoring on four occasions and he even hit the foot of the upright with an audacious scissor kick from just inside the penalty area.
After several efforts at scoring fell short for him, Olise turned his attention to assists, with his inch-perfect through-ball that Mbappe buried with a relish in the 75th minute and France moved on to face Paraguay in the round of 16.
A report by goal.com rated Olise 9/10 and stated, “Drifted about so menacingly, going close plenty of times and almost scoring an all-timer of a goal with his ridiculous bicycle-kick. Sublime assists for both Barclola and Mbappe.”
