Michael Obafemi Out For Whole Season With ‘Significant Ankle Injury’

Blackpool of England striker, Michael Obafemi has been ruled out for the remaining part of this season, following what was described as ‘a significant ankle injury’ he copped at the weekend.

Sports247 reports that the club’s coach, Ian Evatt confirmed that The Seasiders will be without Obafemi for the remainder of their English League One campaign, as the injury required immediate surgery.

Obafemi left the field in pain due to what was also described as ‘a high ankle tear,’ just before half-time of Saturday’s 4-0 loss to Plymouth, following which Evatt confirmed that the hitman will have surgery in London.

It is another major setback for Obafemi, as the Nigerian-born forward has played only five games since his arrival on loan from Burnley less than a month ago, in the winter transfer window.

Evatt told BBC Radio Lancashire, “He came off with a significant ankle injury so we are going to be losing him for the rest of the season. To make some remedies in the January window then lose two of those to ankle injuries is tough to take.”
