Mbachu Uchenna, one of the amputee football players who represented South East in the just concluded NAFF Zonal Amputee Football Championship expressed his disappointment as his team settled for a fourth place finish but that’s not a total failure as he reveals that participating in the competition is one of the best feeling regardless of the result.

Uchenna, a coach of Divine Football Academy, who coaches kids to develop grassroots football back in his state is the youngest player in the team as he looks to keep up the legacy by bringing in more young amputee chaps into the team.

Speaking on his team performance in an exclusive interview with Sports247.ng, Uchenna stated that it wasn’t a total failure on the team’s part, but they could have done better.

“We lost because this is our first time as a team to play such a game.”

“We have not lost focus, we just need to pull our self together for subsequent competition like this, as we have plans to recruit more younger players to the team for better performance,” he added.

Uchenna lauds the NAFF chairman and organizers for such a great tourney as it encourages many disables who thinks it’s all over for them to see and take football as a passion.

Concluding, he urged and encourage other challenged people to involve themselves in NAFF as it gives better hope for the amputees.
