Max Ojomoh Takes Over His Dad’s Big Shoes In England’s Rugby Team

Bath RC’s 25-year-old centre and fly half, Max Ojomoh confirmed at the weekend that he has what it takes to wear his dad’s big shoes in England’s rugby national team, Sports247 reports.

The fast-rising lad, who was born on September 14th, 2000, used his second ever England cap to show that he can even do better than his now 55-year-old father, Stephen Oziegebe Ojomoh.

Although Max’s dad, Steve Ojomoh was born in Benin Ciry, he made the best of his early relocation to England to hone his rugby skills, then gained a national team invitation and won a couple of caps.

However, where Steve Ojomoh let off, Max has taken off on a roller coaster ride and announced himself fully to the world with a man of the match performance in England’s 27-23 victory over Argentina.

The new rave of the moment got a try and two super assists, one of which was a long cross field pass, as England hit an all-time high in the 2025 Autumn Nations Series.

Rugby buffs worldwide are now gloating over the sheer beauty of Ojomoh’s performance against Argentina, which was only his second cap, but commentators were unanimous that they had seen the arrival of England’s next big thing.

His accurate cross-field kick assist to Immanuel Feyi-Waboso and popped pass to Henry Slade for England’s third rounded off a fine first outing at Twickenham for Ojomoh and analysts believe he could be the one to save Steve Borthwick’s job.

Ojomoh was first called up to an England squad four years ago but had to wait until the final match of the summer tour against the USA to make his debut, following which he waited several more months again to get his second cap.

Ironically, analysts noted that, if not for the injuries and withdrawals of two players on Friday, the new icon would have been left out of the squad … but he surely will be in line for a third cap when England start their Six Nations quest in the new year.

A technical report added: “Ojomoh possesses the kind of triple threat all coaches would want from their inside-centre. He can run, kick and pass, and he has appeared at fly-half and both centre positions for Bath this season.

“Where might England have been against Argentina without him? Certainly they rode their luck and perhaps it is no coincidence that he was their standout performer having spent most of the week expecting to miss out.”

However, with Ojomoh in full swing, England enacted a clean sweep of four autumn fixtures for the first time since 2016, and all headlines in King Chales’s nation’s dailies (online, TV and hard copy tabloids) heralded the birth of a new rugby star.

Ojomoh also got a lot of ecstatic acclaim from his teammates, as he was a standout performer for the squad, which is on track for the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
