Botswana’s in-form first choice goalkeeper and top choice at Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies of South Africa, Sedilame Boseja has revealed how she and her national team colleagues aim to stop Nigeria’s Super Falcons when they clash at this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Sports247 reports that the match, which will be the second group game for both teams at Maroc 2025, is scheduled to take place on July 10th at Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, as a rematch of a similar clash between both countries at the 2022 WAFCON in the same country.
Nigeria won that game 2-0 on July 8th, 2022, but the 27-year-old shot-stopper, who is fondly called ‘Tsonto’ by her friends, believes The Mares will use the experience they gained from that encounter to stop the Falcons this time out.
She admitted that the nine-time African champs, who played out a goalless draw with Portugal this past Monday night in Lisbon, are a very formidable side to tango, but affirmed that Botswana’s ladies will go all out with everything they have in order to pull off an upset.
Boseja, who starred for Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies before joining Sundowns in 2021, declared, “They are a big powerhouse, that’s for sure, but this is the second time we’ll be playing them and we know what to expect.
“In the other WAFCON, we lost 2-0 to them, and there was a lot to learn from that game. So, we are not taking anything away from them, but we are willing to compete boldly against them,” said Boseja, who has 21 caps for Botswana’s Mares.
Sports247 reports further that the clash with Botswana will come four days after the Falcons open group play against Tunisia on July 6th and before their last first round game against Algeria on the 13th
