Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has approved the dissolution of the board of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) and announced the appointment of Honourable Taiwo Lekan Salami as the new chairman of the Ibadan-based team.
The decision, confirmed in an official statement on Monday, comes on the heels of the club’s mixed outing in the just-concluded 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

Shooting Stars finished 7th on the NPFL table with 54 points from 38 matches, securing 15 wins, 9 draws, and 14 losses. The team scored 39 goals and conceded 38, underlining a relatively balanced campaign defensively and offensively.
Notably, the Oluyole Warriors enjoyed one of the strongest defensive runs in the league, recording 15 clean sheets — including a six-match clean sheet streak that stood as the joint-longest in the league season.
However, inconsistency plagued their top-four ambitions, with periods of impressive form often disrupted by dips in performance.
The club also faced off-field challenges, including a ₦3 million fine and temporary stadium closure following crowd trouble during a league fixture in April.
The appointment of Honourable Salami is expected to usher in a new era aimed at stabilizing the club’s administration, enhancing discipline, and building on the promising aspects of last season’s performance.
Governor Makinde’s intervention is seen as a strategic move to reposition 3SC for a stronger push in the upcoming NPFL season and improve the club’s prospects of continental qualification
