‘Maintain Your Dominance’ Bashir Charges Team Nigeria — Wrestling Boss Backs Medal Push In Egypt

President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Adeniyi Adewale Bashir, has thrown his full support behind Team Nigeria as they depart for the 2026 African Wrestling Championships in Alexandria, Egypt.

The Nigerian contingent, made up of 10 female and eight male wrestlers, will compete across 18 categories, with expectations high given the country’s strong record on the continent.

“Maintain your dominance,” he charged.

Addressing the athletes before their departure, Bashir emphasized the importance of building on Nigeria’s established success in African wrestling.

“We are leaders in Africa,” he implied.

According to the federation president, the team carries not only the hopes of the nation but also the responsibility of upholding Nigeria’s reputation as a powerhouse in the sport.

“You represent the nation,” he noted.

He urged the wrestlers to remain focused, disciplined, and determined throughout the competition.

“Give your best,” he added.

For Bashir, the championships present another opportunity for Nigeria to assert its strength and continue its tradition of excellence.

“We expect strong performances,” he stressed.

The African Wrestling Championships are one of the continent’s premier events, and Nigeria’s athletes will be aiming to secure medals and reinforce their dominance.

As the team prepares to compete, confidence remains high within the federation.

For Bashir, the message is clear.

Stay focused.

Compete hard.

And make Nigeria proud.

Because in sport, consistency defines greatness—and Nigeria intends to remain at the top.
