Broad City FC secured their third-place finish after a goalless draw against Spartans FC, followed by a thrilling penalty shootout victory of 6-5.

In an interview with Sports 247, Coach Ogunmoyero shared his excitement, stating, “I am excited. You know every coach would be delighted to have won every match, though it is not what we expected. But at least, a third-place finish out of 16 teams is not bad to begin the pre-season.”

When asked if this achievement had adequately prepared his team for the upcoming Creative Championship, he affirmed, “Of course! This pre-season game has gone a long way to motivate the boys. Definitely, this form of play will propel them into the league and inspire them to perform even better. The work is not complete, though. In football, it’s an ongoing process. We will continue to work on improving the boys. It’s a continuous journey. We take this pre-season as a learning experience, and we’ll build on it. We are delighted with our third-place finish, and it’s a positive start to the season.”

Reflecting on the match’s progression to a penalty shootout, Ogunmoyero commented, “Yes, I suspected so. Like I said before, Football is a game of three outcomes: a draw, win, or loss. I was expecting any of these because I can’t control the game’s outcome; it’s an external factor. I can only control my players, the internal factor, and their tempo. The game’s outcome is up to them, but I am delighted that I am on the winning side.”
