Lookman’s Impending €40m Move To Fenerbahçe Raises Dust At Galatasaray

An impending move by Atalanta of Italy winger, Ademola Lookman to Fenerbahçe of Turkey is causing unrest at their Turkish Super Lig rivals, Galatasaray, who first expressed interest in the star.

Sports247 gathered that Lookman is set to snub Gala and opt for Fener, in a deal said to be worth €40m, once officials at his Bergamo-based Serie A side accept the Super Liga club’s bid.

However, it is bound to be another controversial deal involving a Nigerian player, as its success would mean Fenerbahçe usurped an earlier plan by their Istanbul rivals to buy Lookman this month.

Consequently, dust is already rising, as Galatasaray, who feature the winger’s compatriot, Victor Osimhen in their attack, had been banking on the Super Eagles’ hitman to help seal their deal with Lookman.

However, an on-field clash between both players at the Africa Cup of Nations appears to have left strained relations between them, in spite of their respective attempts at sweeping it under the carpet.

A major after effect of that public clash might now see Lookman move to Galatasaray’s fellow-Istanbul-based rivals, thereby causing him to come into direct conflict with Osimhen any day the eternal foes lock horns.

A report by Sky Italia adds, “Fener are making a serious move for the Nigeria international, with negotiations now underway.

“The Istanbul club have tabled an offer of €35m plus €5m in bonuses, with the ball now in the Nerazzurri’s court.

“Lookman has remained unsettled after a move to Inter Milan was blocked by Atalanta management last summer. The decision led to the striker skipping training and releasing a statement slamming the board.

“Lookman wants to leave La Dea. A move to Fener and Turkey is an option the former Everton and Fulham attacker will seriously consider if Atalanta accept their offer.”
