Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman continued his sparkling form in front of goal as Atalanta sealed a comfortable 2–0 victory over Fiorentina on Sunday, strengthening their position in the Serie A top-six race.
Atalanta took control of the contest early and were rewarded just before the break when defender Odilon Kossounou broke the deadlock in the 41st minute, guiding home a precise finish after sustained pressure in the visitors’ box.

The Bergamo side doubled their advantage six minutes into the second half, and it was Lookman once again who rose to the occasion. The in-form Nigerian forward timed his run perfectly, received a clever pass in stride, and fired a composed effort into the bottom corner in the 51st minute, leaving Fiorentina goalkeeper helpless.
Lookman’s goal — his latest in a series of decisive contributions this season — underlined his growing reputation as one of the most reliable attacking outlets in Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad. His movement, link-up play, and sharp finishing kept the Fiorentina backline uncomfortable throughout the encounter.
Atalanta managed the game confidently from that point on, maintaining control in midfield and limiting Fiorentina to half-chances as they cruised to a professional, well-earned win at the Gewiss Stadium.
The victory lifts Atalanta further up the Serie A standings and adds momentum to their European qualification ambitions, while Fiorentina leave Bergamo frustrated after struggling to match the hosts’ intensity and attacking clarity.
Lookman’s decisive strike once again highlighted his importance — and on current form, the Nigerian winger looks poised for yet another standout campaign in Italy’s top flight.
