As the clock ticks toward a historic moment in African sports, Hon. Adeyinka Adeboye, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, has assured that Nigeria is fully ready to deliver a world-class experience at the Maiden Africa Armwrestling Championship Mascot Unveiling and Fundraising Gala, taking place tomorrow, June 14, 2025, at the NAF Conference Center, Kado, Abuja.
In a high-level pre-event inspection earlier today, Adeboye led a delegation of top officials from the Nigeria Armwrestling Federation, including:
Engr. Samuel Jackson, President, Armwrestling Federation of Nigeria
Commodore M.S. Olukoya, Vice President, Armwrestling Federation of Nigeria
The LOC chairman described the upcoming gala as a defining moment in Nigeria’s sports development journey, setting the tone for the 14th Africa Armwrestling Championship, which Abuja will host from July 23 to 27.
“We are not just hosting an event—we are setting a benchmark. This mascot unveiling and fundraising gala marks the beginning of something monumental. It is a symbol of our commitment, our pride, and our readiness to unite Africa through the discipline and power of armwrestling,” Adeboye said.
The event will feature the official unveiling of the championship mascot—designed in partnership with Prostar Sports International—a visual representation of strength, courage, and the unity of the African spirit. The gala also doubles as a major fundraising night, drawing support from dignitaries, corporate sponsors, and passionate stakeholders ready to invest in one of the continent’s fastest-growing sports.
Adeboye confirmed that all invited VIPs and special guests have acknowledged their attendance, including government officials, business leaders, and sports influencers. He particularly thanked the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his unwavering support for sports development at all levels.
“The confirmation we’ve received from our high-profile guests shows we are on the right path. With the support of our leadership, our partners, and the people, I have no doubt that this will go down as one of the best-organized championships in African sporting history. South Africa and the rest of the continent will experience a Nigeria that is ready, united, and proud,” he added.
With all logistics in place and energy building toward a powerful launch, Adeboye reaffirmed the LOC’s focus on excellence and legacy.
“This is our moment. We are not just hosting Africa—we are inviting the world to witness what Nigerian sports can achieve when we unite purpose with passion.”
The stage is set. June 14th will mark the beginning of a historic journey that culminates in July, when Nigeria welcomes over 20 nations for a championship like no other.
