LMC Reverses Decision, Clears Isha Ali For NPFL Action

The League Management Company(LMC) have revised its earlier decision to disqualify one of the two Remo Stars players allegedly involved in match fixing in Ghana.

Recall that Sports247 reported the news of the ban placed on Isah Ali and Andy Okpe by the LMC citing lack of “critical” information and documentation in the registration of the players for the 2021/2022 NPFL.

According the the statement signed by Chief Operating Officer of LMC, Salihu Abubakar announced that a defender for the Sky Blue Stars, Isah Ali has been cleared to continue playing in the NPFL.

The letter read thus: “We note the elaborate explanations on the documents submitted at the point of registration of the two players. Having carefully studied your response the following became apparent:

Isah Ali – the player Isah Ali registered and played for Inter Alies FC in the Ghana Premier League for 2020/2021 season on loan from Remo Stars having signed for club the previous season from Shekarau Babes.

At the end of the GFA 2020/2021 season he was duly transferred back to Remo Stars with an ITC issued by the Ghana FA and was registered for the NNL 2021 season ending playoffs tournament vide a window provided by the NNL for teams to register additional players for the play offs. Even though this registration window is an aberration as it’s not captured in the official transfer window, it can be safely established that the player legitimately belongs to Remo at the point of registration with the MC/NPFL and has in place proper documentation transferring his registration from GFA jurisdiction to FF jurisdiction though these documentations were not captured by the NNL during the transfer window created for the NNL playoffs.”

The LMC however said they are still waiting on documentation and clarification from the Ikenne-based club on Andy Okpe.

“As for the player Andy Okpe we await further documentation and clarification as outlined above.”

Andy Okpe and Isah Ali were both charged with match fixing allegations during their time with Ghana outfit, Inter Allies where they spent last season on loan from Remo Stars.
