LMC Punishes Kwara United For Disobedience

The League Management Company (LMC) has ordered Kwara United to play their subsequent home matches this season behind closed doors.

The sanction was disclosed in a letter sent to the chairman of the club, Kumbi Titiloye as the LMC expressed their displeasure with how fans were able to gain access into the stadium during Kwara United’s 3-1 over Shooting Stars on the match-day 28 of the NPFL.

Recall that the LMC had earlier imposed a one-match ban on the Harmony boys to play their game against Shooting Stars of Ibadan without fans following the violence that happened in their home victory on match-day 26 against Rivers United.

The letter reads:

“Kwara United to play home matches behind closed doors until when the League Management Company is satisfied that crowd control measures are adequate.”

The Ilorin-based club still have 9 games to go this season in the NPFL, including five home games to play at the Kwara state stadium.

With the hope of a continental ticket for next season in sight, Kwara United currently sit 6th on the NPFL table with 43 points and are 5 points shy of the top 3.
