Lille not hopeful on renewing Osimhen’s contract after this season

“We’ll find it very difficult to keep him next season”

Lille club President Gerard Lopez has hinted that the club will find it difficult to keep Nigerian International, Victor Osimhen beyond next season.

Osimhen has been quite a promising player since his move to the French side and has scored a number of goals to help retain the club in a position to play the UEFA Champions League next season. Gerard Lopez nevertheless admitted that the Nigerian player is on a top form and that his form has drawn the attention of top European clubs who may offer bigger salary that the French club Lille.

“Osimhen will bein Lille next season. Afterwards, there are factors I cannot control, such as the fact that a club comes and offers a salary that is six or eight times more than we can offer.

“But, I think it is, sometimes, better not to take a high salary and wait for the next season,” he told media.

Meanwhile it has been reported that clubs like Barcelona, Liverpool, Chelsea and probably Tottenham are likely to fight it out for a deal with the 21 year old Nigerian striker this summer.
