LFC’s response to Unity Cup excites Ekiti FA Boss … appreciates sponsors

Ekiti State Football Association chairman, Mr Bayo Olanlege has heaped praises on the Local Football Councils across the state for doing a good job with the end of the year football competition tagged “Unity Cup”.

Olanlege, who had charged the LFCs in October this year, to host the competition since the ban on sporting activities was lifted by the presidential task force on Covid 19, said he his impressed with the way the LFCs swung into action.

Ikere Local Football council led by its Patron Mr. Tope Orolu set the ball rolling by starting their version of the ‘Unity Cup’, last weekend. While Segun Oke mentored Oye local football council’s Unity cup began 1st December, and the enigmatic Hon. Mrs Sola Osetoba chose to solely fund Emure local football council who kicked off the Osetoba Unity Cup in Emure LFC with five teams on 2nd December.

Gbonyin local football council and Irepodun Ifelodun local football councils have fixed the kick off of their Unity Cup for Sunday December 6, respectively.

Olanlege further appreciated individuals who have been supportive of football development in the state such as Barr. Tunji Brown of Owu Sportswear, Coach Tade Gboyega of the Tade Gboyega Foundation, Lanre Olaleye (Ozone) and those who have also contributed to the local football councils, to ensure that the Unity Cup is successful.

Olanlege concluded that the Unity Cup will get the youths positively engaged during the yuletide across the state while the talents spotted will be put to good use by the state football association.
