Late Coach Osahon’s Family Insists There’s No Controversy Trailing His Death

The family of late grassroots football coach, Osahon Emokpae has come out with a heated declaration that there is no controversy trailing his death, Sports247 reports.

The family’s declaration comes against the backdrop of widespread reports alleging that they were unable to pay a hospital in FESTAC Town, Lagos to release the late coach’s body.

However, in contrast with earlier information that emerged late Friday that the coach’s corpse had been seized by the hospital, the family insisted the body was only being preserved in the morgue.

A number of close relatives of the renowned grassroots football coach, who was, until recently, the caretaker committee chairman of Badagry Division Football Association (BDFA), stressed that they were not hunting around for money to pay the hospital.

They went on to declare that plans had already been set in motion for the renowned coach’s burial, and stressed that only statements from the family should be taken as official and authentic.

A brother to the late tactician pointedly told Sports247: “Only members of our family are authorised to speak about the death of Coach Osahon. We did not give permission to anybody outside this family to speak as our spokesman.

“There’s no controversy about Coach Osahon’s body. It’s only in the morgue for now, while we make plans for his burial. It’s wrong for anyone to start saying the body was seized.”

Meanwhile, several grassroots football stakeholders whom Sports247 spoke with regarding the family’s standpoint posited that they are only trying to avoid bad publicity in the aftermath of his death on Wednesday morning.

A close associate of the late coach further told Sports247 that the development is a sad eruption that might end up causing many grassroots football stakeholders to stay away from the burial whenever it eventually takes place.

“We are not happy with how things have panned out, but the family has the final say on the matter, and they must be allowed to do it the way they want,” the source submitted.
