Lagos WT20i Invitational Resumes as Nigeria Face Rwanda in Renewed Rivalry

Action returns today at the Nigeria Women’s T20 International Invitational in Lagos following a scheduled rest day on Monday, with hosts Nigeria set to rekindle their rivalry against Rwanda in one of the standout fixtures of Match Day 4.

The tournament, organised by the Nigeria Cricket Federation, continues to gather momentum both on and off the pitch, combining competitive cricket with community engagement initiatives.

During Monday’s break, players from participating teams took part in an outreach programme, engaging with schoolchildren in a grassroots development event tagged the Legacy Program 9ja Kids (CRIIO Cricket).

The session featured coaching clinics, interactive games, and mentorship moments aimed at inspiring the next generation of cricketers.

Organisers described the initiative as a reflection of cricket’s broader mission beyond competition, emphasising development and inclusion at the grassroots level.

With the rest day activities concluded, attention now shifts back to on-field action at the Oval, where two matches are scheduled for today.

Match Day 4 Fixtures

Match 7 | 10:00 AM: South South U-19 vs Zimbabwe U-19

Match 8 | 2:00 PM: Rwanda vs Nigeria

The first game will see South South U-19 take on Zimbabwe U-19 in the morning fixture, as both sides look to make a strong impression in the youth category.

Later in the day, Nigeria will square off against Rwanda in a highly anticipated encounter.

The fixture is expected to deliver intensity and high-quality cricket, given the growing rivalry between both sides in recent competitions.

Fans are also encouraged to be part of the ongoing Legacy Program events, which continue alongside the tournament, blending sport, entertainment, and youth development.

As the competition progresses, organisers remain optimistic that the invitational will further strengthen women’s cricket in Nigeria and across the region.
