Lagos State University Targets Second Straight Conquest Of UNITECOL Football Championship

Players and coaches of Lagos State University (LASU) football team have declared their burning ambition to win the collegiate football competition tagged UNITECOL Cup for the second year running, Sports247 reports.

This declaration came after the defending champions began this year’s campaign on a glorious note, as they pulled off a stunning 4-1 victory over Federal College of Education, Akoka at University of Lagos’ sports centre.

Captain of the side from Ojo, Ahmed Malik Ajibola said the defending champions are eager to score more goals as the competition progresses and dismissed talk that the team is under pressure of champions, as they focus on improved performances.

On his part, LASU’s head coach, Zebulon Olohunjeda expressed satisfaction with his side’s performance in their opening game and declared that they will keep gunning for more of such results, as they are focused on winning the trophy again.

Olohunjeda declared, “I feel great because this is just the start of this tournament. And the last edition, we won it. We are a team everyone wants to play with. Also, we have been playing day in and day out.

“We appreciate our directorate and school management for giving us all the support that we need. We are not afraid of anybody. We believe we are coming out to defend the cup, and we are going to win it back-to-back.”
