Lagos Listed For 2026 All-Electric E1 Raceboats World Championship

The E1 Series, the world’s first all-electric raceboat championship, has officially confirmed its return to Lagos, Nigeria, for the 2026 season.

This follows the successful debut of the Lagos Grand Prix in October 2025, where the city became the first African host in the history of the championship.

The 2026 calendar will see the world’s fastest electric raceboats compete across four continents, with Lagos scheduled to host the sixth round of the season from October 3–4, 2026.

The E1 championship, which began last year in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, expanded to Africa for the first time in 2025.

At the Lagos GP, Team Brazil claimed their maiden victory, while Team Brady — owned by NFL legend Tom Brady — sealed their second consecutive World Championship title earlier this month in Miami.

For the new season, the series will begin in Jeddah in January before heading to Europe in April with races at Lake Como, Italy, and Dubrovnik, Croatia.

The iconic shores of Monaco will host the July stop, marking the debut of the newly formed Team Monaco in front of a home crowd.

After Europe, the championship will return to Africa, where Lagos is expected to once again deliver the record crowds and charged atmosphere witnessed during its inaugural hosting.

The season will conclude in North America with a return to Miami, followed by the first-ever E1 race in the Caribbean as the Bahamas hosts the 2026 season finale.

Speaking ahead of the new campaign, E1 founder Alejandro Agag and CEO Rodi Basso reaffirmed the championship’s commitment to sustainability.

“The 2026 E1 calendar marks an exciting new chapter for us. We’re rapidly establishing a truly global championship that combines cutting-edge electric innovation with iconic coastal cities,” Agag said.

“Our vision has always been to inspire change through competition. With every season, E1 grows as a sport while demonstrating the future of electric marine mobility. This calendar reflects that ambition.”

The 2026 season is expected to further solidify E1’s global footprint while positioning Lagos as a key stop on the world racing map.
