Lagos, Ekiti On Top As South-West Under 12 Handball Championship Ends

The South-West Under 12 Handball Championship has ended at the Ilaji Hotel and Sport Resort, Ilaji, Oyo State on Saturday with Lagos and Ekiti coming top in the Male and Female Categories respectively.

Lagos, inspired by their top player Dominion Duru, showed their supremacy in the Male Category with an emphatic 18-2 victory over Osun. Lagos had earlier defeated a stubborn Team Ogun 14-11.

Dominion Duru, who was voted the Most Valuable Player of the competition in the Male Category, is the son of Coach Bukola Duru, the coach of the National Under 20 Handball Female team and his father was a top national handball player.

Other results in the male category saw Oyo earning a slim 6-5 victory over Ondo another 8-6 over Osun while Ogun wallop Ondo 12-1.

In the Women Category, Ekiti earned a comfortable 13-5 victory over Oyo to win the category while Ogun got a brace of defeats, losing to category winner Ekiti 8-3 and to Ondo 6-4.
