The Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), Lekan Fatodu, has reiterated the unwavering support of the state government as Team Lagos intensifies preparations for the 22nd National Sports Festival tagged “Gateway Games”, scheduled to hold in Ogun State.

Speaking at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Fatodu unveiled the commencement of the “open and close camp” to gear up athletes for the festival, set to take place in two weeks.
Fatodu commended the athletes’ resilience and dedication, assuring them of the state’s full backing. “I will continue to push on your behalf so that you will continue to get what you deserve. Your tireless efforts and commitment will not go unrecognized,” he stated.
He also emphasized improvements in support for various sports associations and reiterated Lagos’ commitment to providing standard facilities, equipment, and prioritizing athletes’ welfare to ensure a seamless performance in Ogun State.
Highlighting a new incentive, the DG announced the introduction of instant awards—a reward system to honor outstanding performers during the festival.
Team Lagos captain, Olowolayemo Adewale Sikiru, expressed appreciation to the commission, praising its responsiveness and support. He pledged that the athletes would uphold discipline and continue to make the state proud.
With heightened momentum and unified resolve, Lagos athletes are setting their sights on excellence as they prepare to represent the state at the prestigious biennial event, Gateway Games.
