LAB Memorial Athletics Classics Unearths Primary School Talents

Two primary school pupils, with huge potentials of bringing glory to Nigeria in years to come, have been unearthed at the maiden edition of LAB Memorial Athletics Classics.

The emergence of both tiny tots came in the inaugural competition’s boys’ and girls’ 100m races, which were won respectively by Daniel Agboko and Zainab Mamud.

Both kids fell short of words when they were asked questions afterwards but, when pressed further, they eventually managed to state how excited they were and reveal their dreams for the future.

Agboko, who won the boys’ primary school race, said: “I feel happy, and I want to be the world’s fastest runner.”

On her part, Mamud, a pupil of Ansar-Ud-Deen Nursery/Primary School, added: “I feel happy. I’m dreaming of good things, and, one day, I will represent Nigeria at the Olympics.”

The novel athletics competition is already talk of the town, with several moments of mouth-gaping thrills, as youngsters from the nooks and crannies of Lagos State continue burning the tracks at UNILAG Sports Centre, Akoka, Yaba.
