Kwara United of Ilorin defender, Kabiru Mohammed is relishing the experience he is currently gaining while training under Super Eagles’ coach, Eric Sekou Chelle in the home-based national team’s camp.
Sports247 gathered that the Eagles’ main coach was saddled by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to work with the B-squad ahead of this year’s Championship of African Nations (CHAN 2025).

Chelle has since taken full charge of the team’s training sessions heading into the second-string competition, which is scheduled to be co-hosted by Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda from August 2-30.
After recently helping his Ilorin-based clubside clinch the Nigerian FA Cup for the first time in their history, Muhammed is one of the key players Chelle is now banking on to finally win the CHAN trophy for the country after several previous attempts fell flat.
On his part, Mohammed is singing praises for Chelle, who he described as a strict coach with very high standards that accommodate only physically endowed, hard-working and determined players.
The Afonja Warriors’ defender disclosed, “He has a good philosophy and his game plan has great intensity. He likes an aggressive player who’s good on the ball and works hard without it.
“He always tells us, ‘Without the ball, you have to press and try hard to get it back.’ So, we all have to work hard in order to satisfy him.”
Kabiru Mohammed concluded by acknowledging that only those who can survive Chelle’s drills will make the final squad list to CHAN 2025.
He disclosed: “We’ve had good sessions with him. We’ve learnt that we have to work hard and play as a team.”
