Kwara United’s Abdulsalam Recovers 1 Year After Suffering Fracture Against Wikki

Kwara United winger Abdulsalam Abdulsalam has fully recovered and has returned to training one year after sustaining a leg fracture at the Kwara state stadium, Ilorin.

There was tension on March 15, 2020, during Kwara United’s home game against Wikki Tourists when Abdulsalam Abdulsalam sustained a terrible injury just two minutes after the start of the encounter.

Fans, management, coaching crew, players, and journalists were all shocked to see the level of the injury sustained by Abdulsalam who was immediately taken to the General Hospital with an Ambulance from the stadium.

His teammates were courageous after the incident as they went on to beat Wikki Tourists 1-0 in the encounter thanks to Ufere’s goal before they all rushed to the hospital after the final whistle.

Even players and the coaching crew of the visiting team Wikki Tourists gathered at the hospital after the League game.

Initially, doctors said Abdulsalam Abdulsalam would be out for 9 months due to the level of the injury, but he had to spend just over a year on the sidelines before resuming full training.

On Monday, June 28, the 20-year-old sat with Kwara United Media and recounted his ordeal thanking God and people around him for the chance to stand again on his feet.

“For three days, I was crying on the hospital bed because I thought my football career was overdue to how I was seeing my bones outside.

“It was hell for me as a young player, but I want to thank the management of Kwara United for the support from the day I got injured till this moment. They supported me and are still supporting my career and I am grateful to them.

“I also want to thank my coaches, teammates, fans, and journalists for their show of love when I was down on the bed. May God bless you all,” Abdulsalam explained to Kwara United Media.

Abdulsalam Abdulsalam started his football career at Ace Academy in Kaduna before moving to Real Star also in Kaduna from where he joined Kwara United in 2019.

Before he suffered the heartbreaking fracture, Abdulsalam had already won the hearts of Kwara fans with his superb dribbling styles on the wings and also perfect run.

However, he was not part of the Kwara United squad that left Ilorin on Monday morning to Uyo for their NPFL clash against Dakkada, but Abdulsalam is hopeful he will return to the pitch for Kwara United in the next home game against Enugu Rangers.
