Kwara United Pips Niger Tornadoes In A North Central Derby

The hosts Kwara United had Alao Danbani to thank after his solitary effort earned the Afonja Warriors all three points in the North Central contest between the two familiar foes.

It was an even opening exchanges from both teams, but the host grew more into the game as the time wore on.

Samad Kadiri was seen keeping the Tornadoes defense busy with his pressing moves but was equalled by Sunday Akinmoladun and co as they prevented him from causing any havoc.

Deadlock was however broken in the 18th minute when Alao Danbani fired a shot from inside the box to hand the hosts the lead.

Seeing that his team had went behind Niger Tornadoes Technical Adviser made an early substitution as Munir Idris was preferred to Kabiru Adeniji from a tactical point of view.

First half ended with the hosts in front.

The Ikon Allah Boys came out more improved for the second period and created some few chances but not taken as the half produced no goals.

Post Match Reaction:
“It was a good game by my boys despite the defeat, Kwara United are a quality side and it was a game of two familiar foes, it was so tight but the boys gave a good account of themselves, we made an early change because as a Coach when a particular player is not playing according to game plan it will affect the entire team that was the reason for our early substitution and as far I am concerned it was okay.

“We couldn’t pick any point from our last two road trips, it’s understandable because its a game of football”.

“The team is still blending because it is sixty five percent entirely a new team and the banishment from Ilorin to Abuja has a little impact in our cohesion as a team”…

“It was a game against my Boss (Biffo) I had a plan to beat him but he got the better of me (laughs)

“The management is considering moving out of Abuja, but it’s either we go back to Kwara or Kaduna, once a decision is reached we shall all know.

“Destiny Ashadi and Lukman Mohammed are recovering very well, the later is 50/50 but has resumed training with the reserve team, we decided to leave him out to have a complete recovery.
