The governor, through the Kwara State Sports Commission (KWSC), has taken full responsibility for the team’s logistics and travel arrangements, ensuring a smooth departure for the 30-man contingent comprising 23 players and seven officials.
This gesture underlines the state government’s determination to see the Harmony Boys excel on the continental stage.
The team departed Ilorin for Lagos and will jet out to Accra on Friday morning.
They will face Kotoko on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 PM.
In a rare move, Governor Abdulrazaq also extended his support to the media by underwriting the travel costs of members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara chapter.
This ensures comprehensive coverage of the team’s campaign and guarantees that Kwara’s story will be fully documented.
Kwara United’s Media Officer, Ayodeji Ismail, praised the governor’s all-round commitment:

Team captain, Afeez Musa, said the players are inspired by the backing they have received:
