Kwara FA Endorses Ogunjobi Gold Cup

The Kwara state football association has renewed it partnership with Organisers of Taiwo Ogunjobi Preseason Tournament popularly known as Gold Cup.

An indoor meeting held between the FA and organisers of the annual Preseason championship ended with a conclusion on restaging the championship for the third consecutive time in Ilorin, Kwara state.

According to the FA chairman, Malam Idris Musa Abdullahi who confirmed his led board will again back this year’s event with view of making ilorin the permanent venue for the yearly event.

He revealed Late Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi was an astute football administrator who supported his bid in vying for the 2019 FA election where he emerges as the FA chairman.

He also noted his led board will consult with the necessary stakeholders including the state government, national centre for disease control (NCDC) in organising the tour.

Flag bearer of the championship, Tunde Shamsudeen, on his part, saluted Kwara FA and other stakeholders for their continuous support and is defiant and optimistic of hosting a more colourful tournament this year despite challenges but remains reliant on the green light from Government and Kwara FA.

The eight edition of the Championship has been planned to take place from October 29 – 7 November, 2020 with all games billed for the main bowl of the Kwara state stadium.

Kwara United, Enyimba, Kano Pillars, FC Ebedei and host of others has thus far confirmed interest of participation.
