Kunle Soname Decorated As Africa Students Football Union Patron …Restates Commitment To Youth And Sports Development

The Proprietor Remo Stars FC, Hon. Kunle Soname has restated his commitment to do more in the area of youth and sports development and education.

This was made known when the team of Africa Students Football Union (ASFU) led by its President, Professor Oluwaseun Omotayo, a Visiting Scholar School of Sports and Exercise Medicine University of Health and Allied Sciences Ho, Volta Region Ghana, visited his football academy at Ikenne, Ogun State recently where he was inducted as ASFU Patron.

While addressing the media after his investiture, Soname stated that the investiture would further spur him to do more for youths as well as the sporting environment.

“I feel privileged and honored for two reasons: ASFU represents two things that are dear to my heart, which is education/sports and ASFU combines both into one, ” he said.

On what ASFU should expect from him, Soname explained that he would use his God-given intellect, contacts, and resources generally for the development of ASFU. He added that his football academy teaches young kids how to play football while acquiring formal education and ensure that they are on a list of stars who can compete favorably wherever they find themselves.

When asked about corporate sponsorship for the academy, Soname said, “A Yoruba adage says if you want to put something on your head, you must first lift it up by yourself. From there, people can help you so this is what we are doing by ourselves, we are very confident that when people see what we do generally, others would want to be part of it”.

In his own submission, Omotayo said, “I am excited to be here because Soname is a well-known sport and business mogul who is now a Patron of ASFU. He has started well as a Patron by writing off all our indebtedness and I thank him for that kind gesture.”

On the state of Sports development in Nigeria, Omotayo said,” I don’t want to talk about the past rather than continue to talk to people who have the heart of Soname to please emulate him. What he is doing is called sustainable sports development.

Executive Secretary ASFU, Mr. Olufemi Abioye gave the vote of thanks after the investiture and equally thanked Soname while promising a good working relationship. Guests who attended were full of praises for Soname as the new ASFU Patron.
