Director in the ministry of youth and sports, Hauwa Kulu-Akinyemi has tasked female athletes to hold a high sense of self-belief in their talent and abilities.

In a down-to-earth charge to female sports participants to put an end to situations in which they are intimidated, Kulu-Akinyemi said they should have a sense of belonging and focus for what they want.

She declared in an interview with sports247.ng: ‘Female athletes should not summit themselves easily to what their coaches are telling them.

“They should be able to weigh what they want, instead of submitting to any kind of ideology that they cannot be great athletes without the help of their coaches.

“In fact, women athletes in this country suffer a lot of discrimination compared to their male counterparts; but that will not happen if they stand up for what they want.”
