Former Junior International, King Osanga, has expressed optimism regarding the performance of Nigeria’s national U-20 team at the upcoming African Games in Ghana.

In a recent statement, Osanga acknowledged Nigeria’s track record of success at the U-20 and U-17 levels but admitted to not being able to assess the current team’s performance firsthand.

However, he emphasized the importance of players gaining experience in top-level football, particularly in comparison to their counterparts from other countries.

Osanga highlighted the disparity between Nigerian U-20 players, many of whom come from academy backgrounds, and those from other nations who often have exposure to higher-level competitions.

“U-20 level, like those coming from other countries, they are playing top football.

What I mean, top football, they are playing in a big team, maybe they are not starters, but they are playing in big teams, unlike us.

How many U-20 league squad players play in the top flights here in Nigeria, just a few.”

Despite this challenge, Osanga expressed confidence in the coaching staff’s ability to identify talent and prepare the team effectively.

While Osanga refrained from making definitive predictions without observing the team’s performance, he commended the coaching staff for their competence and understanding of the game.

He believes that with the guidance of experienced coaches, the Nigerian U-20 team has the potential to excel at the African Games.

As the African Games draw near, Osanga’s words reflect a sense of optimism and support for Nigeria’s young football talents.

While acknowledging the challenges they may face, he remains hopeful that the team will rise to the occasion and make a strong impression on the continental stage.
