Event to Feature Basketball and E sports; Draws and Fixtures Announced

The Kidsport Charity Cup Season 13 media conference unfolded on Friday, November 24, 2023, providing insights into the upcoming event scheduled for December 2, 2023.

The conference, attended by partners and sponsors such as Kingmakers, Gamr, Hoopdreams, and members of the press, included the draw and fixture announcements for the one-day charitable competition.

Bukola Alabi, CEO of Kidsport Organization and the brains behind the Kidsport Charity Cup began the event by offering a glimpse into the organization’s mission, emphasizing the use of sports as a medium to bring orphanages into the mainstream.

Alabi stated, “The aim is to support and help them because they are normal kids, like every other child out there. They are entitled to every benefit of a child that has a home.”

The Kidsport Charity Cup, now in its 13th season since its inception in 2009, stands as a testament to the organization’s commitment to the well-being of disadvantaged children.

Alabi highlighted that the initiative maintains contact with participants even after the competition, resulting in heartwarming testimonials.

This season introduces basketball and Esports, collaborating with Hoopdreams and Gamr to diversify the sporting experience.

Gossy Ukanwoke, Managing Director of KingMakers, expressed the importance of sports development and lauded the Kidsport Charity Cup’s sustainable cause.

KingMakers has been a steadfast supporter of the initiative, aligning with its commitment to sports development.

The one-day tournament, structured as a knockout game, will feature participation from six orphanages, four academies, and four schools.

Orphanages, academies, and schools will compete among themselves in the knockout stage, with schools engaging in the basketball game.

Teams qualifying for the finals will play full-field matches, and all teams will have representatives in the Esports category.

Alabi acknowledged the challenges faced in sustaining the event over the years, citing financial constraints.

However, she expressed gratitude for the support of sponsors, for making the event possible.

The competition will offer cash prizes to the first and second-place winners, while other participants will receive prizes for their involvement.
