KG Sports Academy Returns to Agbor After Europe Scouting Mission

KG Sports Academy U20 arrived Agbor on Thursday evening after Successfully taking part in the AJS Europe Scouting Mission in Ibadan.

The Squad of 12 Players led by Academy Director Dr. KEN Gadaffi Gabriel took part in 4 Trial Matches recording 3 draws and 1 lose following which one of the Academy Players Utomi Godstime was Selected among the 12 players picked by German Scout Oliver Schlegl Dirk at the Liberty Stadium.

KG Sports Academy forced Ibadan Trialists to a 1-1 Draw. Adebayo Put the trialists in front in the first half before the KG Boys fought back to level scores through Francis Omotunde in the second half.

In the Second Match of the Tour, KG Academy boys traveled to Akaran to take on Malaga FC at the Ultra Modern Ilaji Stadium

The Academy boys paid for the lack of depth in the squad despite coming back twice to level scores at 2-2 with goals from enterprising Utomi Godstime and Tony Eseka but went down to a harsh penalty call just before the break to 3-2.

With the injury to Ezekiel Odeh in the first half Coach, Michael Ekeh had no reserve to call on and so had to rely on the 11 Man to play out the game. Godsent Benedict came close to level scores and Thompson Iyare’s shot was stopped by the upright as KG Academy continue to search for equalizer.

As the game wore on with Coach Zico Tunde Odubola making a wholesome change to his starting line up the Agbor Boys couldn’t contain the fresh legs and conceded 2 quick goals for the home side to win the tie 5-2.

KG Sports Academy Boyz had to endure the over 30KM journey back to their Bembo Games Village camp with little time to rest and recover before the next game against Don Academy.

Don Academy took the lead after a misplaced pass from Emmanuel Emefiele found Don Striker who wasted no time to slot it pass goalkeeper Tobechi Ossy.

Francis Omotunde once again came to the rescue to level the scores for touring Agbor boys to end the tie 1-1

With little time to recover the Academy boys took on Asa FC in the last match of the series and Tony Eseka put the visitors ahead with a simple tap in from assist by Francis Omotunde.

With Asa boys pushing on and pressing harder, the tied leg of the Agbor boys caved in and failed to clear the ball for Saheed to fire home to level scores 1-1.

KG Sports Academy ended the Europe Scouting Tour of Ibadan with 3 Draws and 1 Lose but will pride themselves for a job Weldone following the selection of Utomi Godstime among the 12 Selected players by German Scout Oliver Schlegl Dirk.

“I am very impressed with the boys, many of who is their first outing outside Agbor and to play 4 games in 2 days is highly commendable, “ says Dr. KEN Gadaffi, KG Sports Director.

“With over 300 players from more than 15 Academies and Clubs taking part we are proud that one of our players (utomi) was picked and shows that we are doing a great job despite only being together for less than 6 months” The sports Development and Empowerment Initiative CEO enthused.
