KG Sports Academy Lifts Back To Back Foundation Cup, Beat WINNERS FC 5-3 On Penalty

KG Sports Academy Agbor emerged champions of KG Sports Foundation Cup after a pulsating penalty kick shootouts against arch Rivals WINNERS FC.

The finals which was played on June 12 to commemorate the Democracy Day Celebrations ended 0-0 at Full Time as both sides failed to score in regulation time.

KG Sports Academy dominated the match from start to finish as Winners sat deep hoping to hit the Defending Champions on the break but the 3 main central defense wall of KG Sports marshaled by skipper Joseph Ukah, Jude Obi and Man Mountain Big Do El Hadji kept the attacking threat of Earnest Okonkwo, Uche, and Destiny.

KG Sports could have knicked it late when teenage revelation Godset Obuzeme beat the keeper and defender only for his touch to be too much but the 16-year-old jumped over the goalkeeper rather than commit him for a penalty to the frustration of Coach Sammy Okonkwo and the cheering KG fans.

With scores at Full Time stood 0-0 the Resulting penalty saw KG scoring all 5 of their kick while WINNERs missed one of their kicks to win the title back to back.

Other awards of the day include Rainbow FC winning the fair play awards, and Rainbow Striker Meshack Lorenzo emerging as the top scorer with 4 goals.

KG Sports Goal stopper Tobechi Ossy was voted the Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament and And WINNERS FC Midfield Maestro Uche carted the Finals MVP.
