KG Sports Academy Agbor began its defense of the Doris Nwadiolu memorial Cup with a 1-0 win over Soccer Stars FC in the opening fixture played at the Agbor Township Stadium.
Joshua’s explicit free kick sailed into the net unaided in the 6th minute to put the youthful KG boys ahead. The Coach Adeyinka Ogundeji boys thrilled the fans with their beautiful passes and ball distribution dominating possession and restricting Soccer Stars to their half for better part of the game.
” Those boys are wonderful, they are very young and good on the ball, everyone enjoyed the game ” Mr Gabriel Nwadiolu, husband of the Late Doris Nwadiolu who the tournament is organized in her memory stated moments after the match.
In the other opening fixture in Group B, Delta Milan shocked Winners FC star with 2-0 victory. goals from Lucky Ekomaye and Abraham Adegejah gave the Coach Harrison Obodo side the 3 points to go top of the group.
In the other Group A encounter, Onyeka O. opened the scores for Green Rangers in the 20th minute. The Onwundijor boys couldnt increase their tally and paid for it when Sharp Striker leveled scores late in the second half to share the spoils.
KG sports Academy top Group A with 3 points followed by Green Rangers and Sharp Strikers while Delta Milan are tops of group B with 3 points.
Two teams from each group will progress to the semi finals.
