Kenya Vows To End Nigeria Dominance As Africa Scrabble Championship Gets Underway

As the Africa Scrabble Championship begins today in Lusaka, Zambia, Bernard Amuke, who is the chairman of Kenya Scrabble Kenya has vowed that the East Africa nation is determined to end Nigeria dominance in Africa.

Amuke believes that Kenya have picked a strong 28 players to represent the country at the tournament and are capable of disposing Nigeria of its position as the best Scrabble playing nation in Africa.

He told The Star of Kenya: “We have a very good team of 28 players including one official from Kenya Pipeline Company, who is one of our sponsors. Pipeline footed the association’s pending registration fee.”

Amuke continued: “Masters’ tournament acted as a build-up to the Lusaka event and we look forward to good results,” he added. He said they are targeting the title and no one including Nigerians will stand in their way.

Nigeria is currently one of the best Scrabble playing countries in the world.

Sports247 Nigeria had in June reported that Nigeria emerged as the best scrabble playing country in the world following their exploits at the West African Championship in Accra, Ghana earlier in the year.

As of June, Nigeria boasts of 8 players in the Top 20 Best Scrabble player rankings in the world.
