‘Keep the Team Together!’ Igiebor Calls for Continuity in Super Eagles Setup

Former Super Eagles midfielder Nosa Igiebor has urged the Nigeria Football Federation to maintain stability within the current Nigeria national football team setup, stressing that continuity will help the team build on its recent performances.

Igiebor believes the team’s showing at the last Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco demonstrated the potential of the current squad and technical crew.

“With the performance at the last AFCON, it makes sense to keep the team together and build on that progress,” Igiebor said.

The former midfielder explained that starting a rebuilding process from scratch could disrupt the progress already made by the team.
“It will be easier to improve the squad by adding a few new players rather than changing everything,” he added.

According to Igiebor, maintaining the existing structure would allow the coaching crew to gradually strengthen the team without losing the chemistry already developed among the players.

“You don’t need to start the whole process again when the team is already showing signs of improvement,” he noted.

The former international also stressed the importance of supporting the current technical crew led by Eric Chelle, who he believes has begun building a competitive squad.

“The coach and the team should be given the opportunity to continue what they have started,” he stated.

Igiebor added that continuity would help the Super Eagles maintain stability while preparing for future competitions.

“When there is stability in a team, it becomes easier to improve and achieve success,” he explained.

The former midfielder concluded by urging football authorities to avoid making drastic changes and instead focus on strengthening the current squad.

“What the team needs now is consolidation, not another major overhaul,” he said.
