Kebbi State Government Says It Will Continue To Accord More Priority To Sports

Acting Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youth and Sports Development Usman Umar Ladan made this known at the first maiden edition of Taekwondo Kiddies tournament held at Taekwondo Academy in Birnin Kebbi.

Usman noted that, the Ministry will continue to partner with any individual or associations willing to improve Sports in the State.

He appreciated the efforts of the National President of Taekwondo Federation Abdullahi Saidu for organizing the tournament while expressing hope that the majority of the kiddies will excel in the game.

Also speaking at the National President of Taekwondo Federation of Nigeria, Abdullahi Saidu said the programme was organized for kids to enable them prepare for the forthcoming national kiddies and Inspector General of Police tournaments all scheduled in the state.

Abdullahi said the game was also aimed at training the kids on self defence methods and as well engaging them in sports as a way of preventing them from commiting social vices.

He used the medium and thanked the state government for providing an enabling environment while appealing to philanthropists to continue to prioritize the development of Sports.

The National President noted that the Academy has produced National athletes and champions in the country.

Highlights of the programmes was the presentation of awards to the deserving athletes by Alhaji Abubakar Udu Idris and Acting Permanent Secretary among others.
