The Nigerian duo of Kanyinsola Ajayi and Sunday Israel Okon both achieved blistering starts to the 2026 season, as they pulled off sensational times in their respective opening races at this year’s Bob Pollock Invitational in USA.

Sports247 gathered that, while Kanyinsola opened his 2026 indoor season with 6.55s, Okon pulled off a 6.61s finish on the same evening of the seasoning opening series at Clemson University Indoor Complex.
Kanyinsola’s time was good enough for him to win Heat 1 in the men’s 60m race at the high-profile event on Friday, ahead of Darien Lawrence, who finished second with 6.59s, while Ian Myers got third spot.
Kanyinsola’s 6.55s time was the fastest across all the preliminary races and spelt an indication of faster finishes ahead of him.
In similar vein, Okon, who is Nigeria’s current 100m champion, won Heat 3 of the men’s 60m with a time of 6.61s, ahead of Javonte Harding, who placed second on 6.68s.
