Kano SWAN Sets Up 3-Man Electoral Committee

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kano state chapter, has set up a three-man electoral committee to oversee the election of the new executive committee (EXCO), that would pilot the association’s affairs in the next three years.

Inaugurating the committee shortly after the executive meeting on Tuesday in Kano, the acting chairman of the association, Musabahu Shehu, revealed that the tenure of the current executives would end on Sept. 7, thereby warranting another election.

He said that the electoral committee that conducted the last election would be re-inaugurated to conduct the 2020 state polls.

The exco further resolved that the state SWAN congress would be held on Aug. 29, adding that the electoral committee would then proceed to present an election time table and guidelines.

It was further agreed that the electoral committee would be given 30 days within which it should conduct elections for new state EXCO.

The exco advised all members to settle their backlog of annual members’ dues, in compliance with the directives from SWAN national headquarters for the affected members to be eligible to vote and to be voted.

According to the EXCO, Aminu Kwaru of Pyramid FM will serve as chairman, Yusuf Giginyu of Radio Kano as a secretary while Salisu Jegus of Express Radio would serve as a member.
