The decisive moment came early in the second half when Chidozie Jude Okorie broke the deadlock in the 48th minute. The forward latched onto a superb assist from veteran midfielder Rabiu Ali before calmly finishing to give the visitors the lead in Lafia. It proved to be the difference on the day, as Kano Pillars held on to secure maximum points.
The win marks back-to-back victories for the Sai Masu Gida, underlining a renewed push for survival as the second stanza of the season gets underway. After a challenging first half of the campaign, Pillars appear reinvigorated and more organised, showing resilience and tactical discipline away from home.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, Technical Adviser Mohammed Babaganaru had expressed optimism about his squad’s readiness, pointing to improved team dynamics and the return of key figures.
“The team has improved, and another morale booster is that some missing players are back,” Babaganaru noted.
“Manu Garba is available, and our General Manager, Ahmed Musa, is also in contention to feature.”
That confidence was reflected in the team’s performance and composure in Lafia.
The Matchday 20 clash was played without spectators following a directive related to ongoing rehabilitation works at the Lafia City Stadium. The improvements, aimed at upgrading the facility, were deemed to potentially impede the smooth movement of persons and vehicles, prompting the decision to stage the game behind closed doors.
For Nasarawa United, the defeat compounds their struggles as they search for consistency, while Kano Pillars will take encouragement from a result that strengthens belief within the camp. With momentum now on their side, Babaganaru’s men will be looking to build on this run as the battle for league survival intensifies in the weeks ahead.
