Kamaru Usman Under Fire From UFC Rivals Over His Recent High Ranking

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) former champion, Kamaru Usman has been hit with critical comments from two of his adversaries in The Octagon, as one believes he is overrated and another faulted current rankings that make ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ a top contender.

Sports247 gathered that Usman is facing verbal attacks from Tyron Woodley, who says Usman is not the UFC’s greatest welterweight of all time, while Sean Brady questions why the Nigerian was granted a title shot.

Woodley disagrees with UFC’s chief executive officer, Dana White that Usman is the greatest in his class.

This is in spite of facts showing that Usman (21-4 MMA, 16-3 UFC) is the one who put an end to Woodley’s UFC welterweight reign.

Usman then went on to defend his belt five times, which put him second behind only Georges St-Pierre for most title defenses in the division’s history.

“Kamaru is not the greatest welterweight of all time,” Woodley told MMA Fighting. “I’m the realest. I had the realest route, I had the realest reign.

“I was the person who dealt with the most stuff behind the scenes and still managed to win, that I don’t even speak about.

“I fought all the top contenders that were not big trash talkers. He’s not the greatest welterweight of all time.

“He’s a good fighter. He stayed disciplined, but that’s what he is. He’s not the greatest welterweight. How can you even say that?”
On his part, Brady (21-4 MMA, 16-3 UFC), who is aiming for a title shot after snapping a three-fight losing skid wonders why Usman is considered a contender ahead of him.

With Usman looking good for a bout on UFC Night 265, Brady said he does not see why the former champion is worthy for a fight against Makhachev.

Brady said on BradyBagz Show: “The least deserving of it is Kamaru Usman. I don’t know how they’re angling this, trying to push him to the title.

“Mutual friendship, same manager. I understand what they’re trying to do, but that’s bullsh*t.”
