Nigeria’s former champion in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Kamaru Usman has been named among likely challengers for the belt of its new holder, Islam Makhachev.
Sports247 reports that Usman’s name popped up among the potential contenders when Makhachev spoke of his immediate targets, after clinching the title last weekend at UFC 322.

It was one-sided affair, as Makhachev was able to blank Jack Della Maddalena on the scorecard to secure the UFC welterweight title, which Kamaru (The Nigerian Nightmare) once proudly held.
Makhachev, who is now a two division champion and is set to retake his position as number one on the pound-for-pound ranking, named Usman third on his roll call of possible opponents.
The new champ declared, “This is the most competitive division right now, welterweight. A lot of young guys. Next week there’s gonna be Garry and Muhammad and there’s also Kamaru and Topuria. All killers who want to take my belts.”
